While these numbers are interesting to look at, they don't mean what the author thinks they mean.  Let's take a look at the stats for Wii Music.

Average time played per player:
As of 3/1: 7 hours, 38 minutes (up 40 minutes)
As of 2/1: 6 hours, 58
As of 1/1: 7 hours, 3 minutes
As of 12/1: 7 hours, 28 minutes

Average number of sessions per player:
As of 3/1:5.04 sessions (up .66 sessions )
As of 2/1: 4.38 sessions
As of 1/1: 4.08 sessions
As of 12/1: 4.05 sessions

Analysis: That’s a stronger jump thank I was expecting. Can you picture the average “Wii Music” user playing the game for 40 minutes in the last month?

In the analysis he says, "Can you picture the average “Wii Music” user playing the game for 40 minutes in the last month?"  If that was what the number really meant, then how does he explain the decrease from December to January to Februrary?  Wii Music users didn't play the game for negative minutes that month.

His analysis would only be correct if new games were not being sold.
