Ail said "It's unrealistic to expect the software market on the Wii would increase massively if more third parties were to support that console."

Uh, what? isn't that the logical conclusion there sir? More support equals more sales. I am constantly baffled as to why people continually make assumptions and accusations about Wii not being able to sell software, when it sells the most software of any console on the market. The craziest thing is that with the lack luster third party support Wii has received it still sells the most third party software too, that is just incredible. The problem with HD games is that if it isn't a AAA blockbuster it doesn't get noticed.

The other thing that confuses me further is this attitude of arguing with facts. Its been said and proven that Wii dev costs are 1/3 -1/4 the amount of HD dev, which means that the sales needed to recoup are much lower as well. I don't think third parties are going to say well Mario Kart sold 15 million and our game only sold 3 million.

The situation is companies bet on tech, and lost, there is no way to paint the picture any other way when games like GTA bring in record revenues and Take 2 are talking of little to no profits. The party is over, the way of doing things last gen no longer apply anymore. It was only a matter of time, that Atari XE commercial is a perfect benchmark to look too, to understand the current landscape. If you look at history you will see the NES and Wii are near identical in their approach.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
