I thought that game was lacking in polish, which KZ2 certainly is not.

Agreed.

The 8 player co-op is great, but the campaign is crap

The vast majority of reviews hailed its single player campaign, I rather agree with those. "Crap" seems an exaggeration to me nomatter if you like the sp campaign or not, unlike Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead which have lacking single player campaigns IMO you are not screwed with Resistance 2 at all if you're not online (About half of 360 owners can't play online games, due to not being subscribed to XBox Live gold, thus IMO reviewers should give bigger penalties for that).

I would agree though both Resistance 1 & 2 are relatively slow starters, gaining far more momentum as you go forward.

IMO Killzone 2 provides a must-try-experience for its single player campaign alone.

Not crap, then. But mediocre. Nothing special. Underwhelming.

The graphics, I'll be frank here, were bad. Insomniac are meant to be good with graphics. Tools of Destruction looked amazing. Resistance 2 was grainy and blurry. Killzone 2, however, looks incredible. Call of Duty 4 looked and played better than R2, and it's a year older.

The potential was there, but the execution was a little flawed. Not enough focus was placed on the actual shooting, and more on the massive arsenal of weapons and giant enemies, both of which were great. Although I prefer having more than two guns at a time, in a game like R2.

Skirmish was a mess, Team Deathmatch was your average Team Deathmatch, the competitive really wasn't very appealing. The co-op is where most of the replay value lay. Shame KZ2 lacks co-op

Halo 3's campaign was certainly not crap. Far from it, it was better than R2's. It had polish. It was fun. It was well designed. Not KZ2 good, maybe not even CoD4 good (ignoring the length), but very good. The graphics were probably better than R2, but nowhere near KZ2. Left 4 Dead's single player was only bad because of the abysmal friendly AI.

But I agree that Killzone 2 would be worth full price for the campaign alone.
