This is a serious question and is not trolling.  I just dont understand why the top notch PS3 exclusives dont shift huge numbers.  These are all high qaulity titles and yet they just dont compare in sales.

If we look at arguably the 4 most hyped games (exclusive) of this gen so far with their 1st week (2 weeks for LBP) and LTD sales.

360

Halo 3           3.8m          9.1m

Gears            0.6m          5.8m

Gears2          1.9m          4.6m

Fable2           1.0m          2.5m

PS3

MGS4             1.7m            3.9m

Res2              0.23m          1.4m

LBP                0.31m          2.0m

KZ2                0.8m(?)       3.5m ????

Why is this? I can't explain it....

I do not belive that the install base is the issue here (Gears1 for instance launched with a 5m install base I believe) and even if it was factored in the numbers still dont compare.

Someone explain this to me (without resorting to fanboy nonsense from either side).....there is something different in the buying habits of the respective console owners???

Well MGS did pretty good compared with gears2 wen they had a smaller user base and considering how stealthy and involved the game is, and the time MGS was released compared to the holiday time gears was could of played factor

PS brand is not known for FPS so that could explain some of it, HALO 3 was marketed real heavy and was the 1st good PS to come out KZ came out 1 year+ so people are saying been there done that also that past Halos were good games so people knew wat they were getting into

LBP was new type of game and didnt appeal to most so people didnt want to take the chance

I think once ps3 gets its own gears than u'll C some big #'s

Uncharted 2 should C big #'s as it qualifies for not having problems that the other ps3 games had

1 Previous game was very good can't say that about KZ or LBP

2 Is 3rd person game with a cover system PS owners love there TPS

3 Comes out during the holiday to get a big 1st week and month boost

MGS is a third party game and Sony survives off of third party. Their top selling games based on pure sales are MGS and GTA. Motorstorms sales were only high because it was bundled. The second game was proof in my prediction that the trend would not repeat itself. There is no real demand for it. GT will be a different story. MGS4 did great because it was put out properly by Sony and Konami in unison (Unlike 1st party games). MGS4 has a base on the PS3 and it was a reason people bought PS3's (Same with me). As soon as Kojima confirmed it was exclusive and wasn't going anywhere despite Konami's plea to go multiplatform.
