John Carmack has programmed id's graphical engines since the 80's. Famous for games such as:

Commander Keen
Wolfenstien 3D
Doom
Quake

and all of their sequels. He is considered somewhat of a semi-god among gamecoders.

 

Drop the "semi" and the rest is completely correct. If he calls something good then it's good; if he says it's a pile of shit then it's a pile of shit.
