(I have never seen so many Wiis in store as I have over the last 2 weeks. Example: My local bestbuy had 24 of them sitting on the floor on Friday. I did not count them on Saturday, but the stack looked the same. Gamestop had a stack of Wiis on Saturday with a sign that said Wii in stock. They had a stack last week with a sign like that also. I have never seen that at Gamestop before. Walmart and target both had Wiis in their display. Couldn't count how many since they keep them in the bottom of the locked game cases.)
Personally I think the numbers are being reported as sale through when, currently, they are not. |
Anecdotes much?

Just a bit. I know it is not necessarly the same everywhere, but it does not change the fact that I can go to any random retailer (where I am that is) and pick up a second Wii. Would have been much easier than buying one from a back ally dealer who bought 10 of them to profit in 07. I live in a city of 120000 that also acts as the main shoping area for numerous small towns in the area. A total of around 150000 to 200000 would likely be the potential market here. Maybe we have just reached our saturation point for the Wii.
