Anyhow, the simple truth is no one knows factually or mathematically whether the ps3 can catch up or not. It all depends on how well Sony play their cards, what tricks ms have up their sleeves and whether or when this recession comes to an end ( strong yen hurting the Sony profits via managacturing costs etc).
Mathematicaly speaking, the equation you are looking at consists of inconsistant variables which need to be multiplied by consistant figures with the addition of an unknown number of "x" factors that may spike sales on one end and drop sales on the other. The number of inconsistancies and variables aswell as "x" factors (an unknown figure) makes it mathematicaly impossible to calculate an answer leaving your thread, theory and opinion a calculated failure.
