1) Valkyria Chronicles is a Sega IP, and has nothing to do with Sony. That would be the same as saying that Nintendo has Zack & Wiki, or Boom Blox, or any other new game released on the system
2) Nintendo just created the Mii's, which has been a huge success. Disaster Day of Crisis was released too, but it didn't fare to well.
3) Miyomoto has made comments about IP and how it is hard to come up with a new one. However, if a game idea (like Disaster Day of Crisis) comes through Nintendo and it doesn't fit a current IP, then they create a new one for it.
