I tested this a long time ago in SSBB. Two level 9 computers, Final Destination, no items, no Smash Balls, three lives each. Evenly matched until the last life, where Sonic started gaining the upper hand. Eventually, Mario smashed him off the edge. Sonic used a spring to try to recover, but he was footstool-jumped and pwned.
Yes, a computer Mario jumped on a computer Sonic's head to finish him XD
