From that I've seen in that gaf thread, the review is pretty positive overall. The say the game has amazing multiplayer, and some of the best AI seen in a game yet.

Here's a quote from the final paragraph of the review:

Thanks largely to its online play, Killzone 2 should find itself a fanbase no one can overlook.

One of the comments on the article:

Just finished reading Edge's review of this, they liked the gunplay, the story 'stinks', the Helghast provide some of the best enemy AI seen yet, FEAR is name checked along with Stalker and COD4, the levels could be played in any order and still have no effect on the plot, multiplayer is good and probably bolsters the score of 7/10

"liked the gunplay"

Take that, maxwell! The lowest review yet doesn't even knock the game's controls. :P

Gunplay =/= controls, take that MM :P

Gunplay is meaning more of the style, weapons, and feel, not the controls if it was the controls he would have stated controls and not "gunplay"

Are you implying that it could be really fun to play and shoot in a game while also having bad controls?  That makes no sense.

I'm implying he could have not been bothered by the control set-up as much, or maybe the final build is better then the demo, but he never said the game had amazing controls only amazing gunplay which is two totally different things.

You can't have good gunplay without good controls.  If the controls suck, as implied by you, then it would probably be troublesome to aim, and a pain to get around in general.  This apparently had no effect on the person.

He enjoyed shooting, despite whatever bad controls some may percieve the game to have.

I didn't say the controls suck, not once, I said it's uncomfotable and there's no excuse for there not to be custom controls when it's so easy to program in.  Get it straight before you say something :P

You didn't say that specifically, but what you said was close enough:

maxwellgt2000 Earthbound > all: no it plays like shit like Resistance

And then when I debated that it plays like Resistance:

maxwellgt2000 Earthbound > all: uhm
maxwellgt2000 Earthbound > all: the controls are much like resistance

In other words, you basically said it plays like shit like Resistance because the controls are just like Resistance.  Or rather, the controls are shit.  A gentler way to put that is that the controls suck.

Stop arguing semantics.  You claimed that that controls aren't good. However, most reviewers and those who played the beta or demo disgaree.

Uhm the layouts are shit which makes the controlls uncomfortable for me and there is no preset set up to play well for me.  And you're taking things a bit out of context when I was meaning the layouts of the controls are much like resistance which I didn't like, but if you were talking about the gunplay Killzone vs Resistance, Killzone is much better as it plays differently and by far better, but it doesn't make the (I'm guessing I have to spell out everything) LAYOUT of the controls aren't suited for the game itself and there's much better layouts for the controls that games like CoD4 use that feels comfortable to the hands as well as quick and easy.

Which is why I said to just put in custom controls, all my issues with playing the game would be gone if that was put into the game... personally I would have fire be R2, gernades R1, zoom in (iron sights) L2, (toggle) crouch/cover L1, knife L3 and melee R3, and it would fix the game.

You're probably the only one who would use that layout, so I don't see why they'd include it.

As for custom controls, most console shooters either force you to use one control scheme or let you choose from two. Killzone 2 gives you six. It's not Guerilla's problem if somebody wants to knife using L3. Because then somebody will want to knife using X. And they have to include all manner of layouts that nobody will ever use. They've explained why they don't want to put toggle crouch or cover in.

It seems to me that you just don't want to like this game. Fair enough. I've had quite a few of those myself.
