EV optimization is a huge pain when you have to do it yourself, since you'll need a crapload specific berries. That usually take ages to grow. And getting an optimal nature is another pain, especially since the RNG hates my guts with a passion. And I don't do bot battles.

Hell, you don't even need to optimize your team unless you're doing the Battle Tower, and that's only because the computer is a huge cheating bastard - using pokemon with illegal movesets, perfect IV's, multiple traits and whatnot. I still have nightmares about Palmer's fucking Milotic (yes, I know that's in DPP).

But because I have a crapload of time to kill, I'll probably do it anyway.

.....you could just do what i do and just focus on two specific stats - usually speed and your attack stat for most pokemon. It makes things much easier when you have access to the power items and then all you have to worry about is IV testing and nature breeding (and ability, in some case).

reminder - a female with an everstone (or a ditto if either one is a ditto)has a 50% chance to pass on their nature to the baby. very, very useful.

 

....and agreed. fuck the battle tower pokemon. my speed-ev trained, speed-natured, 25+ IV pokemon still get out-speeded by battle tower pokemon (of same species). that depresses me...

Yeah, power items are useful. They only have them on DPP, though, and I'm playing Emerald at the moment, so the only item I can use is the Macho Brace - which is still quite useful, but anyway.

And I know about the Everstone trick - you'll just have to actually catch that female first, which can take a while especially if you want it to have a certain ability as well. Of course, putting a Synchronize pokemon with a proper nature in front makes that slightly easier, so...

And I already said this, but yeah - Fuck the Battle Tower.
