Valve are some of the most creative talents in the industry and surely deserve at least grudging respect.

Sure Valve has talented people employed, such as graphics artists (not Gabe of course, he's just a fat millionaire ) and level designers, but I was more talking about low-level game engine design. I don't think they have the in-house expertise like say Crytek, GG, Naught Dog, Insomniac, etc.

If they have the in-house talent, I would imagine they couldn't wait to start tapping the PS3's potential (it benefits other platforms as well).

From Wikipedia

The Source engine is a 3D game engine developed by Valve Corporation. The engine supports Microsoft Windows (32-bit and 64-bit), Xbox, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

I guess they have some experience of engine creation huh !

lol @MikeB, why the hell would Valve want to limit their games by restricting development to a console.  They make PC games, and at this present time, Valve would only be limiting their ability to push any technical boundries by developing for the PS3.

Truth. Especially the last part.
