This would be another in a long line of cases dating back to the ancient Greeks where someone mistakes that their opinion should be and/or is the universal view--in other words, an interesting, if clichéd, fallacy that, seemingly, never quite goes out of style. (In other words, it isn't enough that you enjoy a game/book/movie a great deal, but anyone that disagrees must, by extension, be foolish, wicked or stupid when it could just be, to that individual, the game/book/movie in question simply does not resonate or, put more simply, their opinion differs from your own for any number of reasons.)
(And, for the record, I generally enjoy Valve's work, if not quite to the cult-like level on display in this quote.)
