Should sony let the hackers in? (PS3)

Although psp hacking main purpose was for piracy , it also allowed a plethera of useful plug-ins and upgrades to the psp such as in-game music with every game (which the ps3 struggles with)

Now the question is should sony unlock the ps3 to allow plug-ins , they have nothing to lose because the system is already not region locked, and because hackers can make some real good things for the ps3 if they can make something for a handheld that the system struggles with.
