What is a gyroscope?

It can be used to tell which side is up, no matter how fast you're swinging the wiimote.

The accellerometer can tell which way is up anyway though.... the reason a gyroscope is needed is because the accelleromter can't register rotation on a horizontal plane.... which is like if you hold the Wii wheel perfectly flat and turn it, it would not register (which is why you are told to keep it at an angle)

Really? I had no idea.

Speaking of the Wii Wheel...Nintendo will have to release a special Wii to accomodate Wii motion plus.  And the blaster for that matter...unless they're really just not planning it to be used with those peripherals.
