THE GAP - PS3 can't catch the XBOX360 - pure mathematics

Actually it is very much possible for the PS3 to still pull ahead of 360. If you have been paying attention to the last few weeks of sales, the 360's selling dominance from the Christmas season has subsided. PS3 is locked at 8 million to a little bit less behind the 360. PS3 has really big hitters this year, better then last year, that can definitely bring sales up. 360 has a few games, but nothing to match the PS3 library of games this year.

And don't forget the price cuts. PS3 has already proven that even without matching price with the 360 dollar for dollar, it can sell better then it at a slightly higher price tag. Christmas was a biproduct of them dropping price just out of PS3's range. If Sony drops price again it will be back to where we were. If they are smart they will also slash price again just before Christmas time like MS last year.

I doubt 360 will drop below 200 this year either. The higher skued ones might drop but not that much.

So in turn...
-PS3 price cut (50-100) early 09
-Barrage of good software this year
-More aggressive marketing
-PS3 price cut (50-100) late 09

=PS3/360 gap shrinking to about 5-4 million
