Yeah... I haven't seen this -- Nintendo fans calling for the death of hardcore gaming, or even suggesting that it's happening -- that I can remember.

Nintendo fans say a lot of controversial* things, like: "the market is expanding," or "casual vs. hardcore is a false dichotomy," or "different people have different tastes, which are equally valid," or "girls & old folks should be allowed to game, too." But saying that the traditional core games like FPS's, RPGs, Adventure games, etc., are or should be dying? No. They don't say that.

Instead, this just seems like another Trojan-horse argument for the OP to get the opportunity to bash the things he doesn't like. Re: casual games, "[t]hey have no depth, no point beyond a few minutes of fun with your friends and family."

I've noticed this before. PS360 fans taking the kinds of lame arguments *they* usually make to bash the Wii, putting those same arguments into the mouths of Wii supporters, and then using it as a way to "subtly" attack while supposedly defending themselves. It'd be neat, if it wasn't so obvious.

*Controversial, that is, to some PS360 fanboys.

Exactly.  I really don't understand all the hate for these new types of games that you may not personally enjoy.

I mean, to use a movie comparison, no one minds that High School Musical or The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants exists, as long as they get their Terminator Salvations, Dark Knights, and I Am Legends.  But when a HSM video game appears, it's like the apocalypse.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."
