There are fans, and then there are fanatics. No reasonable gamer would want to limit their options or the enjoyment of others by wishing a game genre/group dead.
The enthusiast consumer may not be the only child of the family anymore (if only because of sheer numbers), but it's never going to be ignored, eliminated or forgotten. Anyone should be able to see that by looking at stuff like comic books, movies etc.
