Strictly speaking, the gaming division would probably be much more profitable by making games for the Wii, DS and 360... In dire times, it's possible Sony will consider doing that, but pretty much a last resort as it would kill one of Sony's valuable brands.
A Sony fanboy wouldn't have added this tidbit, and it's going to get you a lot of flames.

There's nothing wrong with the statement. If they were to discontinue the PS3 guess what they would do? Make software for other consoles, that's what he's talking about. Ever heard of Sega?

I don't think I did.
The PlayStation brand is more powerful than the Sega brand. The PS3 has already outsold the DreamCast, and the DreamCast's predecessors weren't nearly as successful as the PS2/PS1. Sega's handheld that gen didn't sell as well as the PSP.
I say SCE is in a much better state right now than Sega was then. I don't think it's quite extreme enough that SCE hardware production would stop.
