I doubt it.

1. It's just an expansion
2. Many sales from the Halo series came because of the multiplayer, Halo ODST will have exactly the same multiplayer (except for the new mappack which comes "free" with the game) People who don't care about the story won't buy the game. (except for new Online Co-op levels)
3. It's like you've stated different from the series. It has no masterchief, it features an open world and has stealth elements (I admit, the last two aspects could be positve or negative)

To the best of my knowledge, ODST isn't an expansion, it's a completely new experience in and of itself. I would sooner call it a spin-off than an expansion.

There's completely new multiplayer, to the best of my knowledge.

And these guys are the Halo equivalent to the ARC Troopers from Republic Commando. There are definite angles to play this up.

Well it's a (big) stand alone expansion. I mean the story is about 3-5 hours long.

Really? I hadn't head that mentioned anywhere.

Still, it can't really be an expansion when you don't have to own Halo 3 to play it.

What about this ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer_3:_Kane%27s_Wrath

On the PC it's a normal expansion and on the 360 it's a stand alone expansion.

So is the 360 version a game and the PC version is not ?
