Fallout 3 PS3 - 180k
Fallout 3 PC - 60k
I dare not make comment...
I dare not make comment...
I dare not make comment...
Edit: Couldn't resist.
Im just going to be gleeful and say all kinds of crap, don't pay attention.
"PC gaming better than console gaming, always" STRIKE!
"PC games sell better than console games" Strike!
I'll leave it at that, before I get too carried away with things. Really this can't be right, a mighty PC gaming icon selling far better on consoles? Hmmm!
Edit 2: Still can't resist:
Thats 2/3 of the tripple B's of PC WRPGs. Bethesda, Bioware, Blizzard... Its close to a trifecta, I can smell it.

Let's face it, if it was as good as Fallout games are (meaning not simplified for the consoles) then maybe it would have found more love among the PC gamers, just maybe... It's happening a lot recently, look at UT3, if there was no PS3 version, thus making the PC version absolute and utter steaming pile of CRAP then it may have sold a lot better....
Basically, don't make a console port and fuck up the game and it sells like hotcakes, look at any BLizzard/VALVe game (L4D has to be the lowest scoring game they have and it's also on 360, pattern?), look at Witcher, look at Dawn of War.
Edit: Of course, the actual game has to be actually good to begin with.
Edit 2: Also how is it NOT better? Let's leave the fact that it runs best and looks best on the PC. Bethesda just realesde GECK, and you know what that means? More or less weekly free "DLC" (as I know you are aware, but a lot of others arent, in PC gaming this DLC is usually called mods) for the PC gamers.

Simplified huh? Like Blizzard did with Warcraft 3 and Diablo 1/2...
But in all seriousness these are terrible sales! We finally get that data and suddenly its the fault of the game? I mean anything except perhaps considering the reality of the situation.
Btw when you say runs the best, are you considering that many people bought gaming PCs in 2005/2006 and like good sensible people haven't upgraded significantly?
|
Warcraft 3 was simplification? Maybe we aren't playing the same games here at all, somehow adding heroes into the mix and variable damage ranges definitely made it simpler.....
Also, when is it NOT the game's fault it sells worse, and again, FO3 probably sold more over Steam than it did in retail. I don't know one person who can show me a CD for FO3 that doesn't have a 360 sign on it....
Considering the PC version has the least glitches and that it's scalable, yes it does run best.

The whole game was simpler compared to its predacessor, and its better for it.
" PC games in UK have been decreasing by 31 percent in 2008, from 12.2 million to 8.5 million. By contrast, sales of console games has grown from 58.2 million to 74.3 million. To put it simply, the console games market went from being 4.7x bigger than PC games to nearly 9x! Eight in every nine games sold in this country are console games."
Theres your answer.
While the figures do not include downloads from online services like Steam and direct sales from publishers, it does paint a very bleak picture for PC gaming, especially against the backdrop of the impressive video game growth. GFK also released data which shows that five PC games sold in 2008 accounted for 76 percent of all PC games sold in the UK.
At this rate, UK PC gaming will account for less than one million units by 2014. There are a number of clues as to why this is happening. Research group Nielsen company published the top 10 PC Game titles in the US. None of them were produced in 2008 with three of them (yes three), nine years old, even older than Windows XP!"
So you cannot see a problem with this?
