The sort of articles is pretty pointless. "Hardcore" gamers are very very likely aware of several factors such as that the Wii sells, the price of x360/PS3, which games they want and ebay's url.
They can make/have made their choice anytime. If a choice is necessary because buying a HD console doesn't by default mean you have to sell your wii.
I have enjoyed a pretty even number of games across the three consoles, on the Wii neither has been first party (don't even have Wii Sports since I got a Japanese Wii).
