The thing that is particularly maddening is this call from these hardcore Nintendo converts to the Wii owners to abandon ship. I get that sort of thing all the time at joystiq. People say "sell your Wii and it's so-called 'games'" "You're in denial, just get a 360," etc, etc. I find it interesting in his story that he was all into Nintendo types of games, then all of a sudden his passion is the stereotypical grey-brown realistic shooter of some sort. If you like Nintendo-type games, you're not going to be satisfied by the best stuff on Sony or Microsoft platforms.

I'm fine with others having their own opinion, but this attitude of trying to "save Wii owners from themselves" is the height of arrogance, and is truly despicable

Oh, and the hardcore gamers of the NES era were on their gaming computers. The casual gamer market that existed before the NES (the one that got the 2600 to sell 30 million units), had been almost completely destroyed by the crash of '83, because there came to be a complete lack of faith in video game systems. Nintendo restored that faith.
