I guess it easier to coax someone to buya console if it plays something out of the box than plonk down $300 and further another $60 on a title.
Simple, cheap and good PR for companies.
Bundle a game, developer happy, publisher happy, console maker happy, consumer happy..
win win

a. a AAA 3D sonic title
b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"
c. redesgined PS controller
d. SEGA back in the console business
e. M$ out of the OS business
