So you're comparing a mature GBA fanbase (at a time when the GBA had what for competition?) to the PSP fanbase at those releases?  I see.

I would expect all the 8/16 bit remakes to go on the DS.  That isn't surprising.  Seeing an FF7 remake on the DS would be surprising though.

Consider that the DS has a larger installbase than the GBA ever had right now, and that in a year the Wii will be within a stone's throw of that same number. The PSP increasing userbase is not apparently helping its software sales overmuch - the fact that later buyers apparently don't buy legacy software is indicative of bad trends for games with legs.

I don't disagree.  I agree the DS has more units.

To use a stupid analogy, if you could sell X-rated movies in a movie store or at Disney Land, which would sell more?  I know I have no idea but the X-rated movies fit more in place at the movie store than at Disney Land.

Why use an analogy if you agree that it's stupid?

Let's try this one, which isn't even an analogy:

If FFVII remade would be cheaper to produce and sell more copies on the DS, why make it for the PSP?

Why not make FFXIII for the DS too?  Or TLR?  Or IU?

Why develop on a console at all if the DS is cheaper?  Do you see the fallacy in that thinking?
