They are DVD:s, not CD:s (4000 Megabytes difference per layer).
Anyway, i'm going to make a couple assumptions and guesses, so this is only a guess, which i see propable.
I assume that MP3 is the first game on Wii, that uses Dual-layer discs. Nintendo may have different suppliers for the laser heads, and some supplier have supplied defected heads, which don't read dual-layer discs as they should.
That's why i think, other games so far have worked. It fixes only by replacing the head. Or maybe it reads, but sends an altered signal forward and in that case it could be fixed with system update.
