@Alby: We know there are various devices with similar functionalities, for example british In2Games have been developing motion controllers for years and they even have had a few controllers in the market.
Basically the tech that makes Wii Remotes motion sensing functionality possible is rather new (accelerometers sensing acceleration in multiple directions) and the pointer functionality is made in completely new fashion.
But, the thing is, that when some another console comes out with motion controller like Wii Remote, it's not going to have a competetive advantage of it, like Wii has. As i said in the OP, it would have been "easy" way to improve and have advantage in the next gen to make a controller function like WM+, but since it's soon out, a controller that works the same way, will be "old" since day one.
