Again, I'm not angry that Matt chose WoG.  I'm angry with his passive aggressive reasoning.

Perhaps the people who write the reviews for PC games are a bit harsher than the Wii reviewers. You guys are acting as though a good game didn't win. I could think of about 30 games for the Wii that would have been worse to receieve game of the year.

They were harsher, WoG scored lower on the PC review.  But still higher than SoaSE, let alone the rest of the list.

The point is not that a good game didn't win, the point is that the BEST game didn't win.  (IOO)  And the point is that since WoG wasn't even on the RADAR for best game on the PC, the fact that it won best game on the Wii is just blatant disrespect for the Wii games of 2008 like SSBB, MKW, NMH, etc. etc.

Are you really going to say that SSBB and Mario Kart Wii and NMH and Okami, which lost to World of Goo on the Wii, are all worse than all the games that apparently beat World of Goo on the PC?

Honestly, I don't agree with the game winning. And honestly, it's IGN. It's almost expected that they would pick something other than a Wii title to get the award. Every time someone posted Wii and IGN in the same sentence, the results were never pretty. And you guys expected something to be fair? I understand why you guys are upset. I just wouldn't let it bother you. That's like saying Braid or Fable 2 didn't deserve GoTY from Time or IGN AU. It's just a companies choices. If the fans were allowed to choose, I'm sure it would have ended up differently, but I don't see why everyone is so up in arms over this issue. The website will continue to hate on Nintendo. At least they DIDN'T put it up against obvious games that shouldn't be in there. They picked a good title instead of just mock Nintendo by putting the likes of Ninjabread Man or Monopoly or Monkey Mischief or Pitfall or any of the other terrible titles that were released this year into the mix for possible Wii winners.

But don't you see, they don't even know how awful they are.  They hate the Wii so much that they've lost all perspective on it, but they don't even realize it.  That's why they don't pick a joke title -- it's not a joke to them.  They ARE the joke. 

But WiiWare doesn't have the same knee-jerk reaction for them.  It's probably because Wii/360/PS3 is a totally different thing to them than WiiWare/XBLA/PSN.  So all the regular games for Wii are lessened in their minds, making the best WiiWare title (World of Goo) their natural pick for best Wii title.
