The systems which are in a similar position to the PS3 are the Gamecube, N64, Saturn and Dreamcast; this association comes from the fact that they have somewhat similar sales and are based off of established brands. These are systems that sold poorly at a time when the marekt was smaller thus the PS3 IS SELLING POORLY! You can't spin Sony out of this position, the PS3 is selling at the rate where the last place console of most generations sells. This is being noticed and the PS3 will be sold to customers through the press as the biggest mistake in gaming history and as a massive flop; at the same time developers are starting to see it as the best way to lose a lot of money by developing games for it. I've become more and more convinced as time goes on that 2007 will be the PS3's best year in terms of sales and things are going to get worse from here; in 2008 and 2009 all that will be announced will be multiplatform games and people are not going to spend the additional $150 to $200 to play games on a system because "it is the PS3"; in 2010 and 2011 those drought filled days of 2008 and 2009 will seem like the good ol' days as only multi-platform movie tie-ins and crapware are announced for the PS3. The battle is over, Nintendo has both Microsoft and Sony in Check and Sony has their 12 year old inbred cousin with down's syndrome planning their next move. |
