I agree with the OP here.
Gameboy and Gameboy colour were fairly different. There were a lot of games that weren't playable on GB, only GBC (I mean a lot, I think it's at least 10% of the later GBC games, maybe 33%).
So I think they should be split up. The problem is, how?
We have data with them combined.
What you could do to split up the sales is:
For HW: GB sales = sales up untill GBC released, + 20% of the total GB sales for the next year.
SW: No way to do it.
Anyway, for HW.
GBC release = November 98.
GB ships up untill end of September 98 = 69.56M. + October 98 = ~ 70M.
Ships next year: 15M. So between 73-77M for GB LT.
That means GBC shipped = 40-45M.
So for Nintendo handhelds, this is the sales.
GB = 73-77M
GBC = 40-45M
GBA = 80M
DS = 90M (expected LT = 150M +)
