Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
I have never been so immersed in a game, never have I seen a story this good, such brilliant gameplay and the polish and attention to detail- all of the textures, the way Snake climbs stairs, it all adds to the experience.
I actually liked the online. It was nowhere near the single player, and not as good as, say, CoD4 online, but it was still very good. I thought the largest fault in the online was the annoying GAME ID system. The PSN exists, use it!
Oh and also, the best football game ever made is Pro Evolution 3.
