Poll: Will the Wii pass the PS2 in sales?

The two times Nintendo has been the dominant company in the home console market, their console has been supported for over 10 years.
The PS2 will have a 10+ year lifespan, but it was replaced by the PS3 7 years into its life. Do you really think the PS4 wont' be released for another 9 years? The GC was replaced 6 years into its life but support isn't totally gone for it just yet. The dominant console will always have the extended lifespan because of the support behind it.

Given the sales of the PS3, I fully expect the PS4 to arrive well within the next 9 years.  But we're not talking the PS3 so what does it matter.

Most system sales came before their successor was released. The PS2 had 7 years between it's launch and the launch of the PS3, and it continues to sell because its successor is priced in the stratosphere. If I'm right, the Wii will get 5 years and then be replaced by a relatively low-priced systems which I shall call the Yuu.  I expect the Yuu to be released somewhat early -2011 at the latest- simply because of HD (which is growing rapidly) and the fact that the Wii IS a rather low end system outside of the controller. The experiement worked, no reason Nintendo can't upgrade to better tech (which will be much cheaper by 2011). Anyway, this gives the Wii 5 years of sales without worry of being overshadowed by a successor, two less than the PS2.

By that reasoning, the DS should have a much shorter life than the PSP because hardware wise it is inferior and all it has going is the touchscreen.
