Now, the games' budget have skyrocketed, and they will need 3-5 times last time's losers' market share to justify making games they made for the winner, and not die. I'm eagerly looking at how they get out of this pit. |
If history is any indicator (and it usually is), most of them won't. The ones that do will be the ones that threw their lot in with Nintendo and finally "got" what makes a Wii game sell. That's what happened with developers from the 1980s and 90s: the ones that clung to gaming PCs by and large vanished or absorbed each other, while the ones that embraced the more simplistic NES (and later Genesis and SNES) were the ones that survived.
