Since this was originally about comparing GC to Wii games, here's a few screenshots from IGN from Super Smash Bros Melee. They released screenshots over a few months before launch, similar to SSBB now.

There's hundreds more SSBM pics on IGN and probably other sites as well. I find it interesting, because it seems like the actual game looks better than the screenshots...mainly because we're not so zoomed in while playing...imagine what Brawl will be like if it already looks good zoomed in.
