I played CS over many years a while ago and I must say there is nothing like that experience currently on the consoles. However, those gamers are definitely what Ninty doesn't cater for. In my books, the very low interest in online playing was a bad move by Nintendo and one of the main reasons I didn't play my Wii in a while... To tell you the truth I'm not an FPS fan at all unless it has interesting multiplayer, the only games I play a lot and finish are the ones with a strong storyline or sports games and unfortunately the Wii's lineup in the last part of this year had none of these games.

The one thing I agree with you is that the addition of violence and gore is unnecessary....

Miyamoto himself was playing Killzone 2 on E3 2008 you know... So simply because the wii is portrayed kiddy doesnt mean it is. The Conduit being promoted at the October conference is the sign that Ninty is also focusing on core gamers. We just dont realized it, till 2009.

These 2 years only the times when Ninty wants to bleed money out of MS and SONY for them to be dominant once they unleashed there core games on the market. Thats why they abandon their loyal fanbase and the core gamer for the moment, YEAH... they abandon core gamers thats a fact, but they did this to save the gaming market. If they didnt do this and Ninty did this in their E3 conference:

... we might have been in the next video game crash right now. Have you noticed that gamers today are becoming older and older? Thats not a good sign the gaming community needs kids to hold the industry...

Anyway, I really don't think that Nintendo's shift towards casuals is for anything else than to make more profits. As long as their products sell they wouldn't mind if their "original" core fans are not satisfied with their games output.

The only thing that you got right is that the new and young Wii owners are going to grow up and want the next Nintendo console, thus consolidating their position. However, it still doesn't make it right in the eyes of more traditional gamers.

At least we agreed that Nintendos effort during the last 3 months definitely alienated their core gamers.
