RE4 sold close to one and three quarter mill on GC. Tell me how that is mediocre.

Probably because the PS1 versions of RE1 and RE2 each sold over 5 million copies, RE3 sold over 3.5 million copies, hell the port of Code Veronica X for the PS2 sold over 2 million, so selling 1.65 million copies on the original Gamecube version of Resident Evil 4 might have been seen as a letdown especially considering all the press it was getting and game of the year awards.
