So let's see...
Aside from Nintendogs and Brain Training, none of the games were "new and original". Wii Sports would have been a better example.
Wii Fit had the "Wii series". Mario and Sonic had, well, Mario and Sonic. Shooters are rarely original. Motorstorm was a standard racing game. Big Brain Academy used the Brain Training "hype". Sequels are never new.
But if you want to, you could take a look how many new and original IP:s lately have sold in large numbers, opposed to how many haven't sold in large numbers. Secondly, due to the new audience, it's basically easier to have hit with new IP on DS and Wii.
