So a hook is important in any game not just fun to play but makes you want to see what happens next. Hl2 has that so did halo1 developing characters you care about is important. Gears 2 ads more story then 1 so I'll see when I beat it ,Bioshock had a great hook and story and all the crazy gameplay mechanics of HL2 and more not as linear as MP3 and way better characters. I mean who do you care about Alyx Vance, Cortana, Samus Aran. Wait Samus was a main character so who do you care about in that game???? Bioshock has you helping Little Sisters or hurting them depending on which way you play it. Still any game that hooks you and cant be put down is the best game to me at the time and Halo2 released and I played it to death I finally put it down and played and beat HL2 and enjoyed every minute of it.
