that is such annoyingly silly logic. Nintendo were simply the 'first' to 'rescue' video games, they didn't create something from nothing, video games weren't their idea. Simply put, they came along at the perfect time with the perfect toy to salvage a shredded home market. If they didn't do it, someone else, seeing the flood of money that came pouring through Atari in the early days, certainly would have. The current home console market would definitely be different, but to say it wouldn't exist is giving Nintendo credit they don't rightly deserve. But, when a person doesn't think their comments through, that's the sort of ham-fisted, short-sighted conclusion that's arrived at. How 'bout this, if it wasn't for that individual in ancient China that invented the abacus, mathematical computation wouldn't have gotten past our fingers, hence, they would have never invented those massive, room filling punch card machines in the early twentieth century, the transistor wouldn't have been adopted or refined enough to give rise to the early counting computers, the ocilloscope and the very first video game, 'Space War' so, there wouldn't have been the need for a microprocessor to further advance the field, no microprocessor... no personal computers and certainly, no home video game consoles. There. See how unbelievably stupid that is.
