We know Sony did several things wrong. That's why the PS3 is in third place. Had they done everything right, they would be in first with 40 million sales right now. They did not realise that humans, by nature, are cheap. They do not want to pay 600 dollars for a console, especially before it has any games. So, not only did the X360 get all those impatient people who didn't want to wait until November 2006, it got all of those people who put the 'sucks' stamp on the PS3 two months into its release because there were 'no games'. So now, all of those people own 360s, and when things finally look up for the PS3, even when it is a more reasonable 400 dollars, they don't want another console.
Had the PS3 been released on the same day as the X360, it would be in second place. But that's no excuse. The Wii showed that even if you release a year later, you can go into first. Not that I respect Nintendo for doing what they did, but from a business standpoint, they were very intelligent.
It's good that things are looking up for the Playstation, though.
