One: Because it's a Japanese company. It only makes sense to release locally first.
Two: The US doesn't actually generate the most profit for Nintendo, because the consoles are actually less expensive here than in most other places. This is actually the real reason behind region-locking: to allow Nintendo to keep prices high in Japan and Europe by making importing from the US impractical.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.
