Depends how they rate the game. Nintendo wasn't stupid to release 2 big games in the holidays at the same time. However they don't mind releasing games that don't cross as much such as Wii Music and Animal Crossing: City Folk around the same time. I mean I make it sound like its a simple formula but it depends on the kinds of games they are and how much they are expecting from the title. That's why MK Wii and Wii Fit could be released around the same time as they knew they wouldn't compete for sales and would sell together. I'm assuming you are talking about Sega's case in early 2009. More than likely they can release Sonic around any of the other games, Madworld, The Conduit, and HoD: Overkill and it won't affect sales. Sonic is a big property that won't interfere with the others for being a big brand that doens't infringe upon their genres. Their biggest worry is going to be making sure the 2 new IPs, Madworld and The Conduit are spaced out and that HoD: Overkill aren't together. So if I were them this is how I'd release the titles if I had to release all 4 of them in the first half of 2009. Madworld- January/ February 2009 Sonic and the Black Knight- March 2009 The Conduit- Late April 2009 House of Dead Overkill- Late June 2009 And if they must push one to second half 2009 then do it with either the conduit or HoD: Overkill. Otherwise this is the most probable release scenario. This way Madworld and The Conduit have their own launch windows... hopefully separate from any huge Ninty releases and Sonic and HoD: can release and sell over time with their brand. Sega has 4 huge games that all could be potential huge sellers... just they ahve to manage marketing and releasing of each efficiently to reap the benefits not only of it's launch but of the entire year. |
Id have to disagree with that. The Conduit has so much hype for it I think a March/April release would be best. Anymore waiting people will begin to be impatient and some might even lost interest.
I think MadWorld/House of the Dead:Overkill are the titles that can benefit from a later release.
Other than that your points were great.
