Amazing fanboydom going on in here. Let's forget about the price point of the PS3. Sony knew what they were doing when they incorporated the Blue Ray drive and the not so amazing Cell processor and hence had to release it at quite a hefty price but....
....$200 drop in two years? Wait another four years and you can have it for free!
From domination in the last two gen to so far third place this gen, Sony is counting on it's brand, Japanese scepticism of non Japanese consoles and it's legion of diehard fanboys to have kept it going for the last two years cause face it, the last two years sucked to be a PS3 owner. Countless rubbish third party ports such as Orange Box anyone?
Who could've thought that relative new comer Microsoft would be giving Sony such a hard time? And the Wii? Nintendo's bloody Wii will make sure that Sony will never win this gen. It can only fight for second place. And it will not even dominate that IF it can get to second place. And judging by current sales figues fanboys...it will not.
So yeah.... SCREW the 'it's doing well for an expensive machine.' The PS3 is a FAILURE if you measure by past successes. Ask ANY business analysts and they will agree. Heads have rolled and so they should.
