I know the one console future is the word of the devil around gaming boards, but at some point it has to happen if gaming is going to survive. Companies like EA, Take 2, Activision, and THQ are never going to be able to profit in the future if things continue the way they are. Even if every system next gen takes the way of the Wii things are just going to be to much. When a franchise is licensed to one of these companies the owner wants the game on every platrom. Right now that means 10+ differant version of the game has to be made.

well, if you want a one console future, you better start sending Microsoft and Sony letters asking them not to produce consoles anymore. Also, you better let Nintendo know you set it up so they are the only console next gen.
Nintendo will never stop making a propriatary system, as they have never lost cash, with or without 3rd parties. Why give up control of a console when you aren't worried about profitability?
Also, I think you should just stick with PC's, as that is basically what you are asking for.
