I wasn't kidding in my critical review of the game when I said that it encompasses the joys of learning perfectly. Children in particular have very open minds to learning new things (hence why school piles on a massive amount of information on them in such a short time; if you don't believe me, just watch Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader and realize how many things you were taught when you were younger that you've forgotten). So yes, the game does have an instant appeal with children, as it does with anybody who still can appreciate the learning process.
Of course, the more set in your ways you are, the more irritating and unforgivable that learning process will seem. Again, I noted that in my review: you can't go into Wii Music expecting to be an instant superstar, or even a music prodigy in the making. 5.5 hours of on-and-off (but mostly on) play of the game made it so I managed to produce a somewhat-okay sounding rendition of Every Breath You Take, and it was only at the end of those 5.5 hours that I was really starting to appreciate just what making music can mean.
The game is not for everyone, though that was the goal they had in mind when they made it. If you are unable to enjoy learning, it's a solid bet that you'll be unable to enjoy Wii Music, sadly.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.
