Multiplat games are starting to become the only AAA games around

Third party developers are always better than first party developers. Capcom , epic , EA(just whats left of bioware) ,square , 2k guys , rockstar , bethesda , infinity wards ,valve are all producing top quality games that are over shadowing exclusives. What first party rpg can compete with what comes out of bethesda or square? What shooter this gen can beat what valve and cod 4 have to offer?

Exclusives are always nice but when there is a better game in the same genre that is multiplat it kinda seems pointless to even care about them. Im all for exclusives though but seriously its kinda hard to be excited for them when there are better multiplat games out there

 

It might not be first-party but CD Projekt, Mythic, Blizzard, Turbine, Obsidian, ArenaNet and Turbine studios are all making better RPGs than Bethesda and Square Enix.

- CD Projekt developed The Witcher (2007 RPG of the Year)

- Mythic is making it's own legend with Warhammer Online

- Blizzard is self-explanatory (World of Warcraft and Diablo 3)

- Also Obsidian developed Neverwinter Nights 2, and though NWN2 wasn't so amazing, the expansion Mask of the Betrayer had easily the best game story of 2007

- Turbine Studios also had a great breakthrough with Lord of the Rings Online

- ArenaNet is busy with Guild Wars 2!

 

As for shooters, true, the most of the best ones are multiplat.

 

 To be honest the J man is not big on online games but rpg and online rpg arent really compared to each other alot.Not to say that they are bad but there in another ballpark in what it offers. Oblivion won rpg of the year before the witcher and we know ff 13 is going to be great but yeah your right on one thing diablo 3 has a chance to be better than both these games. The J man honestly wasnt thinking about pc gaming in this thread maybe because pc already has alot of exclusives and those exclusives are alot better than stuff thats for pc and consoles. But with regards to this thread the J man is only talking about the console side but thanks anyway.
