What if this game isn't the giant system seller that PS3 fans are hoping for?

What's with the "what if"? The era of the giant system-seller is over. Even the mighty Halo 3 only produced a spike amounting to some 250,000 units over three weeks before 360 sales resumed their normal course. Over this whole generation we've seen people buying consoles according to very different patterns from what they did in the past, and the "giant system seller" no longer factors into those patterns.

The bottom line here is that one game is not going to turn the tide for or against any console. The market just doesn't work that way anymore, and people hoping for it to do otherwise are only setting themselves up for disappointment.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
