I don't think there will ever be another system with the success of the NES or SNES. I think there is just too much competition nowadays for one system to be that big anymore. Plus, games being released back then were often re-defining gaming. I don't think there is much anymore that can have the same "wow factor" as games back then did.
I feel I am not expressing my thoughts very well in this post.
