I still feel there is no reason other than keeping demand up by shorting shipments, tey keep them 10-15% supply constrained, nintendo can boost sales further down the line into xmas and create more impulse buys, the tech in the console is easy to produce the processor is easy to fab with low failure rate, its brilliant that they have kept it up so long, and there is amazing demand for the console even without the shortage, if they can keep this up 3 more years, it will be the all time best selling console, and have created a schism, in the video game market with generational tech, and 3rd parties, now will it be benifical, or destructive is the question.. i think benifitial, the wii might be a gateway drug for gaming
