day after thanksgiving, it got its name from the massive sales, that put retailers into the black for the year on that day tradtionally.... also, its a batshit insane day to try and shop, though there are some fantastic values out there.... years ago i got a sony reciver, normally 600, for 150 just had to be there very early.... i got there at 4am (store opened at 7) and i was 400 people back... though i havent seen one that bad in a few years
